The wings on this U.S. Airmail commemorative tells us this is AIR MAIL, as
does the distinct red color.
But here is something we'd like to know: This stamp was issued in 1949
to commemorate the bicentennial of Alexandria, Virginia.
Alexandria is not a city that we know to be asssociated with Airmail, or
is it?
