The Tech, January 25, 2004, San Jose, CA
Video Clip from Channel 2
On Saturday and Sunday, January 24-25, 2004, members of the Northern
California chapter of the Mars Society participated in a Mars outreach event
at the Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose. The event coincided with the
successful landing and transmittal of the first pictures from the Mars
Exploration Rover (MER) Opportunity, and the partial repair and continued
success of MER Spirit.
KTVU Channel 2 (Oakland, San Francisco, San Jose) was there Sunday, and
broadcast a segment on both their 5 PM and 10 PM news programs that evening.
The link above contains a portion of that segment, with an interview with
member Bill Clancey, a researcher at NASA Ames, and demonstrations of the
Mars Analog spacesuits by members Bill Weitze and Justin Milliun.
Also present at the Tech were members Jim Brown, Frank Crossman, John
McGowan, Joel McKinnon, Maarten Sierhuis, and Jean Marie Walker. Thanks to
all who made this happen.
