The Scott Carpenter Issue

On May 24, 1962 Scott Carpenter orbits the earth three times aboard Aurora 7.

While the stamp illustrates Aurora' splashdown near its recovery carrier, in fact it overshot the target area by 260 miles. Carpenter waited for rescue for about an hour.
