The Cosmonaut and Worker Issue of 1962

Postage stamps are often used as tools of propaganda. This stamp is an excellent example of this. Notice the cosmonaut holding the dove. Both creatures of flight, but the dove is a symbol of peace; that the cosmonaut holds the dove is no accident. Notice the worker carries the flag (with communist symbols present). This tells all good workers who might walk with the cosmonauts are flag carrying patriots. The stamp itself with all these symbols in such a small place is an excellent example of postal propaganda.
