Paraguay: Apollo VIII

This set of 3 stamps comprise a portion of a series issued by Paraguay in March of 1969. The Apollo 8 mission, which was the first manned mission to orbit the moon was completed in December of 1968. This set includes a small portrait of John F. Kennedy. One can speculate that the inclusion of Kennedy is a marketing action, to give the stamp appeal to Kennedy topical collectors. Even with this the inclusion is a good linking of the commitment Kennedy made to land a crew on the moon, and return them safely to earth within the decade.
