Romaina: Mariner IV to Mars

Mariner IV flew by Mars and returned a set of stunning images. This Romanian stamp diagrams this very well. Sadly the limited set of images revealed a cratered surface with no hint of surprises to be found on later space probes.

For all its achievements, Mariner IV shows up on very few space stamps, as at the very same time there was a great deal of noteworthy progress in human space flight.
