Bought a Digital Camera at Fry's in Sunnyvale
I just bought the camera moments earlier. At Fry's the noon-hour crowd is inside
examining and buying all sorts of amazing things. As you can see the weather is
nice. I am impressed with this very first digital "snapshot."
The Center of Silicon Valley
This location must be close to the center of Silicon Valley. We are looking out
the second floor window of the building where my office is, to the south-west. It is just after the noon-hour, and folks
are probably heading back to work. The day is clear, but hazy. The buildings at the
other side of the intersection are occupied by Applied Materials. For fun, find this location on a map!
U.S. Route 101, South
We are facing 101 Southbound. It is late afternoon. The 2 brown buildings on the
left will soon have other towers nearby. The leftmost is the Network Associates building.

New Building
A new building under construction in Santa Clara. I wonder who will occupy it?
Classical Silicon Valley Industrial Park
The tile-roofed industrial building with a landscaped "park" has been a Silicon Valley
trademark. It is less often seen now as land is now scarce, and can be used more profitably
as office space, or whatever. This scene is in Santa Clara. Nice day today. Now what did I need to get done today?
Heading Home
Southbound traffic on San Tomas Expressway in Santa Clara, heading home. It is
clear that this technology has its limits, but you get the picture. It is rush hour
in Silicon Valley, nearly 6 P.M., PDT.

Golf at 237
I am trying the "standard" resolution on the camera, with a picture in the early
afternoon out the open side window of the car. On 237 near U.S. 101 there is the Sunnyvale
Municipal Golf Course,
in the fore-ground, a freeway side emergency call box.

Industrial Renewal At San Tomas and Walsh
Creative-destruction. Industrial urban renewal. We are at the
intersection of San Tomas and Walsh in Santa Clara facing north.
The white building to the right was once
a manufacturing building for Memorex Corporation.
Mergers and spin-offs came and went. As soon as
the ground can be prepared new buidings designed for the current industrial needs
of Silicon Valley will appear. As soon as something appears at this location, I'll
let you know.

Off to Work
We are a few hundred yards from the site of the prior picture. It is nearly 8 AM,
and most of us in this picture are off to work.
The morning fog is still thick (it will clear later), you are looking at San Tomas,
while heading north. We will be at the intersection with Walsh next.

Lots of People at the Bookstore
Saturday is a good time to pick up a book or magazine. This location is just
off Saratoga Ave. in San Jose. Though we buy books by web from
Amazon.com
and
others, nice to browse in person too. Or maybe it is the Starbucks...

Vasona Park, Los Gatos, CA
Sunday morning, maybe 10:30 AM, quite pleasant at the lake in Vasona Park, Los Gatos.
Sunday morning, in Vasona park, but a little above the lake. The morning fog has all but cleared, a little left
near the hill top.
This concludes the first full week!
