We are at Shoreline park in Mt. View. We are looking East. The highest peak we see is Mission Peak, Fremont. Over Silicon Valley, California.

At the Foot of Mission Peak

December 13, 2000

Mission Peak

It is 7:15 AM, the sun has not yet risen over the valley. At the foot of Mission Peak in Fremont, CA we met a man (he may be in his 60s) and woman returning from a hike to the peak. They tell us that they have made that climb over 2,000 times in the past 10 years. We wished them the best in the next 2,000 hikes up and back.

Looking West

From the foot of Mission Peak we look west and in the distance we see Mt. View over the south end of the bay, and salt ponds. Dawn has reached Mt. View.

Looking West Northwest

Fremont is in the foreground. The white mound to the right is salt from the evaporator ponds.

Cattle

It is still a bit dark, but between us and the houses are cattle.

Sunrise Over Silicon Valley

We are looking west southwest at sunrise over Silicon Valley.
